First Belly Laughs :)

Reading to Trevor - 3/11/13

Jared loves to "read" books to his brother, and most of the time Trevor enjoys listening too.  This is a win-win for Mommy to have a few minutes to get something done around the house like fold the endless loads of laundry!  What sweet memories these brothers are already making, at least for their proud parents!

Lowe's Build & Grow Workshop - 3/9/13

Jon & Jared enjoyed a "Daddy Day" starting with the Lowe's workshop for kids.  They built a monster truck, Monster Mutt to be exact.  Jared was so excited!  They also went to the library to pick out new books & dvds.  We're so thankful they get to spend special time together.

Valentine's Day

Jared's class at school exchanged Valentine's and had a party so Jared enjoyed coloring on his Valentine's for each person.  We were amazed that Jared could recognize & read the names of each of his classmates!  He also helped us bake heart shaped cookies with red sprinkles of course!

Trevor - (almost) 3 months

Trevor is a strong baby, rolling well from belly to back.  A lot of his tummy time is spent putting him back on his tummy these days!  We're also working with him on sitting up (with lots of support).  Our couch has a nice indentation between the cushions in the middle which is perfect for this.  We sure do love getting to know Trevor's personality!  Even though he's still not sleeping well at night or for naps during the day he is almost always content & happy.  Trevor gets a little fussy in the evenings, but loves his bath & knows its time for bed afterwards.  He is still waking to eat once in the night, but usually goes right back to sleep.  Around this age Kate & Trevor met with a lactation consultant since Trevor's weight gain had slowed a bit.  Turns out Trevor had a posterior tongue tie which contributed to him swallowing quite a bit of air while nursing.  This was repaired in a quick procedure at an ENT's  (Ear, Nose, Throat doctor) office the day Trevor turned 4 months old.  He's doing well since, but we also found out that he's got "silent" reflux.  This means his food is spit up but doesn't come out of his mouth, he either swallows it back down or it may not even make it to his mouth.  His throat all the way up to the back of his nose are quite inflamed.  He'll likely have to take medication for the rest of his first year of life to help reduce his stomach acid.  Poor guy!  This may be contributing to Trevor's eating issues as well & his sleep habits, so we are praying that these will soon improve & he will be in less pain as well.

Helping Daddy - 2/2/13

Our kitchen faucet started to drip & needed to be replaced.  Jared is always willing to help so of course had to get his tools & lend Daddy a hand!

Trevor - 2 months (1/14/13)

So as you can see we are quite behind in our blog postings.  We've been busy with our boys!  At 2 months Trevor weighed 10 lb 8 oz, which was the 9th percentile.  He was also only in the 9th percentile for height, so he's our little peanut.  Trevor has continued to be inconsistent with his "schedule", preferring to make his own.  Sometimes he takes good 2 hour naps, other times he still wakes about 45 minutes into his nap.  We did figure out that he seems to sleep better being swaddled still.  So we've tried a bunch of different swaddling blankets, wraps, etc.  Trevor went back to the miracle blanket for a while around this age.  Like most babies Trevor doesn't love tummy time, but of course we try to work it into our playtime several times a day.  Trevor started consistently rolling over from tummy to back around 12 weeks, although he did it several other times closer to 10 weeks.  Jared has continued to adjust quite well to having Trevor around.  He loves to "encourage" Trevor during tummy time, give his little brother lots of hugs & kisses, & "help" Mommy take care of Trevor.  He does his best to keep quiet while Trevor is sleeping or eating.  Jared can't wait until Trevor can really play with him!
